“It’s pretty much immediately vomit inducing, causes difficulty breathing. A lot of similar symptoms to pepper spray.” -Daniel Idzkowski

Here’s the story, no matter how tough your lock may be, given enough time with the right a tools, a determined thief can cut right through it and walk away with your prized possession.

San Fransico based Skunklock wants to add an extra layer of security to its classic U-Lock design by incorporating a internal chambers that emit a noxious pressurized gas once compromised.

“You’re basically just puking on yourself the entire time. They could change all their clothes, shower, if the bike is still there come out and cut the remaining 75% of the lock. You can’t prevent a theft 100%, so that’s why we call it a deterrent lock, not a solution. “

The deterrent chemical is compliant with rules governing all 50 states and European Union nations. It currently has $8,879 pledged towards its funding goal of $22,000 on indiegogo.com.  A $99 pledge will get you a SkunkLock by June 2017, pending legal issues.
