And you thought Bogner was for Aspen gapers…

Every skier knows the awful feeling of that hard, sharp pang and that loud, screeching scratch when you ski over a large rock hidden in the snow. Well, Willy Bogner and a handful of extreme athletes managed to get over all that to produce one of the most fascinating, and perhaps a bit cringe-worthy for people who love their skis, scenes in sports film history for Bogner’s 1990 film Fire, Ice and Dynamite: a bunch of athletes racing down a rocky cliff on skis and snowboards, with absolutely no snow. Though the scene is lighthearted and a solid dose of pop slapstick humor, the skill of the athletes and difficulty of the performance is not to be underestimated.
