Significant rainfall in the Pacific Northwest extending into northern Idaho is on tap for the next 24 hours, especially East of the Cascades. Rain will change to snow late tonight into Monday above 5,000 feet (Heavy at times) dumping 7-12 inches at upper elevations of NW Montana. We feel that Whitefish will see heavy snowfall just north of Kalispell towards the summit. Rain may be falling at the base. Glacier County will see significant snowfall at upper elevations. The highest peaks of northwest Montana may see an excess of 12-18 inches!

That storm weakens and sends the cold front through southern Montana and central Wyoming late Monday that will kick off light snow showers over Big Sky and into central Wyoming (Cody) (No real buzz here).

“Temps are expected to fall with rain changing to snow causing slick roads and accumulations, especially in the higher elevations around Glacier National Park with amounts near 1 foot possible.” NWS Missoula

Next week looks wet with systems rolling into the Pacific Northwest and may extend south towards the Sierra. Stay tuned.
