Colorado statues state, when there is a collision, skiers and snowboarders are required to stop, stay at the scene, and give contact information (name, address) to ski patrol or the other party involved in the collision.

Denver based ski attorney Russell Hatten suggests those involved in a collision should keep this list in mind:

  1. Take pictures of the other skier/snowboarder
  2. Immediately contact homeowners or renters insurance which should cover liability.
  3. Contact ski patrol and remember, they’re the only ones investigating your accident. Make sure they know every detail and ask for a report
