As ski bums start to ask, “is it winter yet?,” a couple meteorologists have an answer– it’s coming!

According to The National Weather Service, snow is expected to fall on the high peaks of Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front starting tonight and lasting through Friday morning. And while snow accumulations won’t amount to a foot of fresh, up to a 3″ could fall on the higher mountains of Montana over the course of the next two days.
“Rain and snow will develop over the Rocky Mountain Front and across the mountains of Central MT from Thursday evening through Friday morning. Accumulating snowfall is possible, mainly for elevations above 7000 feet.” – NWS Great Falls Facebook Page
Further south, Wyoming is forecasted to see mountain snowfall east of the continental divide.
In addition to Montana, OpenSnow‘s Joel Gratz is projecting snowfall to appear on peaks above 12,000’ in Colorado. The majority of that snow is set to fall near Monarch and Crested Butte.
