9 News Denver settles the question once and for all by contacting the U.S. Forest Service to get some clarity on the Smokey Bear vs. Smokey The Bear debate.  Here’s what Barb Timock had to say:

“Smokey Bear does not have a middle name, and I believe the confusion is caused by the song where you sing Smokey the Bear, Smokey the Bear. That’s where the confusion lies, the song make it sound like he has a middle name, but in reality, he doesn’t. “
