Brett Levingston was spearfishing off Moreton Island on Australia’s Gold Coast when he heard his friends at the surface screaming.
“I pulled my head up to see what my mates were yelling about and as soon as I put my head back in the water that’s the image I got,” Levingston told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

Levingston turned on his GoPro and captured just a few seconds of footage, which you can watch here. From the footage you can see Levingston face to face with a 14-foot great white shark.
“I got my speargun, which wasn’t loaded, and gave it a good poke in the head because it wasn’t changing its course at all, it was coming straight at me,” he told Australian Broadcasting Corp.
