Snow is falling across the west and places like Whistler, Timberline (7″ overnight!), and Mount Baker all have a fresh coat of white on their higher peaks.

Wait a second… It’s mid-June– What’s going on here?

Apparently La Niña is getting the memo that it’s time for her long-awaited return. Currently, reports indicate that the Sierra and parts of Lake Tahoe are seeing snow accumulate on the higher peaks and while much of that accumulation has fallen on the Shasta/Cascade region, it’s a welcome sight nonetheless.

Also, NOAA just announced a Winter Weather Advisory for Lassen Peak, California, which should be smack dab in the middle the oncoming storm. meteorologists are calling for up to 5″ on the upper reaches of Lassen Peak.
