Following a three-day search, 23-year-old Cody Michael and his dog Bauer were rescued from a mountain side in the Sierra Nevada mountain range after a Black Hawk helicopter spotted ‘HELP’ written in duct tape. The two were hiking on a remote trail last Monday when Michael lost his way on the snow-covered trail.

When he didn’t come home after hours out hiking along the Loch Leven trail, his parents knew something was wrong.Rescue efforts were underway in the days that followed to find the lost hiker.

Michael and Bauer were airlifted out of the backcountry by the helicopter. Rescuers described Michael as being ‘fine and dandy’.
