Carson May was a beloved member of the Sugar Bowl community and when he disappeared in mid January, his family, friends, and the ski world as a whole felt the loss.

The death, which was most likely the result of an avalanche, shook many individuals and empathy begin to pour out from all over the world. The loss even affected multi-grammy award-winning artist Stevie Wonder as he just played a benefit for the May family this past weekend reports the ABC10 KXTV.

The concert took place in Carson’s hometown of Davis, California, where the icon took the stage on Sunday as a fundraiser to support “early search and rescue technologies,” which the family hopes will save lives in the future.
