While closing day is usually a venue for good times and free spirits, this year proved to be an especially tragic final day for Breckenridge Mountain Resort.

According to the Summit Daily, 20 year-old Catherine Abeyta is dead after colliding with a tree on Sunday afternoon at the Summit County ski area. The Denver resident was skiing in the Monte Cristo area on Peak 7 when she collided with a tree. Summit County Coroner Regan Wood said Abeyta was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
