The Olympic Valley community is in mourning after a tragic accident claimed the life of a skier at Squaw Valley on Saturday. 

Elizabeth S. Danel was skiing in the Headwall area, when she sustained numerous injuries after falling and sliding through a stand of trees reports the Reno Gazette Journal. The ski patrol was alerted to the situation at approximately 1:35 pm. Ski patrol later discovered her unresponsive body and attempted to revive Danel with the help of the Squaw Valley Fire Department.

They were unsuccessful in their attempts and Elizabeth S. Danel was pronounced dead at 2:27 pm. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
