Starting in 1981, Rick “Oz” Oswald was the man at Cat Ski Mt. Bailey.

However, Oswald’s reign as “Lead Guide” has come to a tragic end as an avalanche killed the veteran guide on Tuesday reports NR Today. According to the article, Oswald was caught in the slide while guiding clients on Mt Bailey. At the time of the incident, he was performing avalanche mitigation techniques. Ultimately, he was carried by the slide and slammed into a tree.

The injuries in that collision ultimately took the life of Oswald.

*Our deepest condolences go out to Oz’s friends and family.
