Two giant male grizzlies, or coastal brown bears, battle for dominance during mating season on the Alaska Peninsula. Fights like this can result in serious or fatal injuries, as the drive to mate is very strong. Female, or sow grizzlies, will chose to copulate with the most dominate males, so the winner’s genes prevail- classic evolution at work. Males, or boars can grow to over 1500 pounds, making them the largest land based predators on earth (polar bears are a tiny bit bigger, but they are considered marine mammals).
