As of 7 AM Mount Baker snow data is showing 13 inches of overnight snow! Crystal and Stevens have between 4-7 inches and still snowing. Heavy snow will be falling today in the Cascades with generally 7-12 inches in most locations above 3500 feet. through this evening. Snow levels will rise on Sunday with heavy moisture continuing into Monday (High elevation snow- lower elevation rain). Turning conditions will be best Saturday under cold temperatures before the warmer air filters in Sunday.
The models have been advertising a steady stream of light to moderate moisture moving over northern Idaho and into the Tetons Saturday night through Sunday. Colder air over northern Idaho will keep snow going in the eastern mountains near Spokane through Sunday morning (Warming late). The Tetons will grab light snow tonight (1-3) which turns moderate by late AM Sunday. Expect 3-5 inches additional Sunday. Snow tapers somewhat in the Tetons late Sunday before picking up again Monday morning. Moderate snow continues at high elevations in theTetons through Monday night. Total snowfall in the Tetons over the next several days should range in the 8-10 inch range. There may not any single deep dump but conditions will be significantly improving each day! My picks are midday Sunday (Happy Valentines Day) and again on Monday.
Colorado reaps moderate rewards in the northern mountains beginning Sunday through Monday. Most snow will focus in the north (Steamboat) with lighter amounts towards I-70. Best turns will be found early Monday. Areas around Vail Pass could offer some moderate surprises.
