Indian soldier, Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, was found alive after being buried in an avalanche for six days on the Siachen Glacier in the Himalayan Mountains.

Koppad, along with 9 of his fellow soldiers, were on duty at an army post on a glacier when it was hit by the massive avalanche.

He was found buried under 25 feet of snow at an altitude of 19,600-feet. It has been reported that temperatures in the area of the rescue hovered around -40 degrees Celsius.

Army Command chief Lt-General D S Hooda spoke with The Times of India and is quoted,

“The medical condition of L/N Hanamanthappa is critical but all attempts are being made to evacuate him to the Army Research & Referral Hospital (in New Delhi) on Tuesday morning. We hope the miracle continues. Pray with us.”
