Ski areas in Connecticut are having a bad ski season as it is and for one ski area, things just got a little worse.

According to the ctpost.com, two burglars broke into the Mohawk Ski Area lodge outside of Cornwall on Monday. The burglary occurred during the wee hours of the morning and a pair of suspects walked away with $2,050 in addition to a pail’s worth of loose change and some ski passes. Lucky for Mohawk Ski Area, the two suspects have since been arrested.

State Police uncovered video surveillance footage that showed the perpetrators in question destroying surveillance cameras (not the footage… classic mistake) and breaking and entering into the vault. So far, damage totals have amounted to roughly $5,000.

“Through the course of the investigation, troopers were able to identify the two suspects that entered the ski resort, and a third suspect that was located outside acting as a look out. Troopers also identified a suspect vehicle,” said Trooper First Class Kelly Grant. Later, police officials obtained the necessary warrants and apprehended the suspects and vehicle involved.

The two suspects were later identified as Terrance Edwards and Ralph Baldelli. After Baldelli and Edwards were taken into custody, officers found $1137.12 in cash not to mention the clothing worn during the incident, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The two have since been charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy, and first degree criminal mischief.
