White Pass Ski Area is about to have one hell of a white Christmas.

According to WSDOT officials, US Hwy 12 road is set to open tomorrow at 5pm PST, giving skiers and riders the chance to get up to the mountain for first tracks on Wednesday. And when we say ‘first tracks,’ we mean FIRST TRACKS. Just before the mountain was set to open, mudslides and avalanches closed US 12 and since then, skiers have been chomping at the bit to score turns at one of Washington’s premiere ski areas.

White Pass Has Received Over 153″ of Snow This Season!

Currently, crews are hard at work, prepping the road for a single lane opening, where a traffic light will direct drivers to use a single lane on the road. Although “minor delays” are expected for regular vehicles, semi’s and trailer traffic are prohibited from using the road. Right now, snow is in the forecast and as always WSDOT operations could possibly be delayed by meteorological circumstances.

Yet barring a tragedy, White Pass locals will get to shred the 153″ of virgin powder that’s fallen so far this season!
