As a new system moves into Colorado today, NWS Boulder is warning of Blizzard conditions along the continental divide that could dump up to 16” in some mountainous spots.

A strong storm system will affect the area tonight into Wednesday morning. Blizzard conditions will develop over the plains late tonight and continue through Wednesday morning. North to Northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph will produce near zero visibilities at times over the plains along with 3 to 6 inches of snow. In the mountains snowfall will range from 8 to 16 inches with 5 to 10 inches in the northern foothills. Along the front range…southern foothills and palmer divide snowfall will range from 3 to 8 inches along with some blowing snow and poor visibilities especially along and east of I-25.- NWS BOULDER

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON MST WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING…MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING AND
CONTINUE OVERNIGHT BEFORE DECREASING LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…8 TO 16 INCHES WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS
OVER THE GORE RANGE.

* WIND/VISIBILITY…WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH WITH
GUSTS TO 35 MPH. EXPOSED AREAS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE
TO SNOW AND STRONG WINDS…WITH VISIBILITIES REDUCED TO LESS
THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS…ROADS WILL BE ICY AND SNOWPACKED ESPECIALLY OVER THE
MOUNTAIN PASSES.

Still on track…

As of now, Berthoud Pass, Gore Range, Steamboat, and Winter Park look to reap some serious benefits from this storm.

Also, it could be the Denver’s first real snowfall this year!
