SYNOPSIS:
Significant snow fell last week over interior BC with Lake Louise Ski Resort nabbing an amazing 56 inches in 7 days! . Kicking Horse had similar amounts followed by Revelstoke at 30 inches. Colorado had a deep week especially Loveland (20-30 inches in the past 7 days), followed byBreckenridge and Vail who reported over 20 inches. Our chase took us to the season opening at Grand Targhee Friday where 12 inches of freshies were waiting for those lucky ones that nabbed early chairs. Conditions at the Ghee were excellent up top and respectable at lower elevations. WOO HOO.

PNW/Sierra
The Pacific Northwest gets teased with 3-6 inches Monday with cold air bringing snow levels to sea level by Tuesday. Interior BC could see 4-9 inches. That system quickly drops into the Sierra late Monday/Tuesday. We feel the Sierra will grab 5-8 inches (Low elevation snow) with some spots slightly higher. Snow showers continue in the Sierra through Wednesday but don’t look for any single heavy event. All areas of the Sierra see some snowfall with an emphasis on northern resorts. 2 day totals could be in the 6-10 inch range in some higher locations.
Rockies
The Panhandle of Idaho (Northern resorts) and northern Montana will see colder temperatures and snowfall as a cold front drops down from Canada. Widespread snow will be falling late Monday/Tuesday (3-7). That system drops into central Idaho and stalls on Tuesday with moderate snowfall continuing into Wednesday morning (5-10). Southern Montana, and the Tetons reap moderate rewards on Wednesday under northerly flow. North winds will usher in colder temperatures and could favor resorts near Bridger Bowl as well as Big Sky according to our forecast (5-9).The Tetons might see less (3-6) since wind direction is not optimal for heavy snow.
The Wasatch will see moderate snowfall Tuesday night/Wednesday (3-7) which moves into Colorado Wednesday/Thursday. Colorado snowfall is hard to nail at this point. SW flow shows some snow for the 4 corners Wednesday morning (Light). Our focus will be the cold front that impacts the northern mountains mid Wednesday morning. I expect a widespread moderate event of 4-7 inches favoring resorts in the north. Some models show little snow at this point however colder temperatures and northerly flow should kick out decent amounts for perhaps an early morning powder turkey day?
