Pacific Northwest: Rain at lower elevations on Saturday (Snow above 7,000) will change to snow by Sunday morning (4-8 up high, 2-4 low). Some snow showers will linger into late Sunday. Moisture splits and drags into Oregon as another piece moves into central Idaho (See Rockies forecast). Areas near Mount Hood may see heavier amounts. Another round of PNW snow is likely as early as Wednesday with a trend towards higher moisture for the end of the week! Powder Alert criteria will likely be met over the week at higher elevation resorts as systems continue to move across the Northwest.
Sierra: Snow will begin falling on Sunday afternoon and continue through early Monday morning. Expect generally 3-6 inches at most resorts (North to south including Mammoth) with perhaps slightly higher amounts on the crest. Temps will be trending much colder than the last storm so expect low elevation light snow to 5,000 feet (Lower density). A brief break on Monday morning brings another round of 3-5 inches Monday night/Tuesday. Long term models show late week storms staying north of the area however confidence 5-7 days out is low.
Rockies: Splitting system in the Cascades on Saturday drags a decent moisture fetch intocentral Idaho late Sunday night/Monday with perhaps 4-9 inches or more at upper elevations (Brundage and areas west 7-11). The Tetons and Wasatch get action late Monday/Tuesday (5-9- low density with some isolated areas at 6-10) as moisture moves form the Sierra through Nevadaand into Utah southern Montana and Wyoming. Colorado grabs good rewards Tuesday/Wednesday as models depict deep moisture over much of the State. Wind patterns will be from the West/Northwest bringing moderate snowfall to most of the northern mountains (Steamboat, I-70, Snowmass, Summit County etc.). Wind direction in the San Juans may stay SW allowing moderate snowfall to the south. The Front Range near Denver sees northerly flow late Tuesday so areas like Estes Park, Winter Park, and Eldora should grab decent action by Wednesday morning..
