Synopsis: Significant snowfall is going to be falling over the northern interior of British Columbia for the next several days. Whistler will see heavy snow at the summits and rain at the bases. Snow levels will be near the surface in northern interior areas and just above to the south. 2-3 feet of wet snow is likely through Monday near Revelstoke. A brief break early next week migrates to another round of heavy snow for BC Tuesday/Wednesday with colder temperatures (EPIC ALERT LIKLEY). Colder air moves into the lower 48 mid next week with snowfall likely in many lower valley locations of the Rockies.

Cascades: The trend is for high snow levels late this week to lower late in the weekend (Heavy rainfall through Saturday below 7,000 feet). Snow will be falling to the bases by Sunday morning (3-5 lower elevations and 7-9 up high). SIgnificant snowfall is possible on higher mountain locations above 7,000 feet. Next week brings another round of heavy precipitation Monday-Wednesday with initial warm air and cooler air behind the fronts. The front next week looks colder so the stoke meter for moderate to snowfall is likely by Tuesday/Wednesday even at lower elevations. Snow level drops to 500 feet by the end of the week with decreasing moisture.

Sierra: As we forecasted the Sierra has not disappointed with several early openings announced yesterday (Squaw-Alpine this weekend). Snow will begin around midnight Saturday and continue through Sunday (3-5 lower elevations, 6-12 upper). Peak storm ski day is Sunday! Light snow showers continue Sunday night. If you like powder, crowds, and stoke than start chasing!

Rockies: The next storm races into central Idaho Sunday morning (5-8) and into the Tetons and Wasatch Sunday night and Monday. Amounts look moderate in the 5-8 inch range but not surprised to see higher totals above 8,000 feet. West central Idaho could see 7-10). NW flow can bring surprises to the Wasatch and occasionally Grand Targhee. Colorado reaps rewards similar to the last storm where we see 6-10 inches through many mountain locations favored by Northerly flow. While that spells good news for the I-70 Corridor the low pressure system digs into the 4 corners so areas in the south will see respectable numbers. This system edges further south than the last so northern New Mexico as well as Arizona stand a good chance of seeing moderate snow. The SE corner of Colorado could see blizzard conditions by Monday.

Extended: The models show another surge of heavy snow for interior BC Tuesday/Wednesday. Stoke meter could be very high for the northern Rockies. Arctic air will be coming down from Canada into northern Idaho, PNW, Montana, and the Tetons Wednesday night/Thursday with ample moisture.
