It is being reported that the Porter Group plans to build a $50 million gondola that will connect the town of Queenstown, New Zealand to The Remarkables ski field. The gondola will have 140 eight seater cabins stretched over 9.8km (6 miles).

The new gondola will be the longest will operate year-round providing uphill transportation to hikers, mountain bikers and conference guests to the Remarkables Park Town Centre.

“The gondola will enhance Queenstown’s appeal as an international four-season destination enabling sightseers, hikers, climbers, mountain bikers and wedding couples or conference and incentive groups looking for an unforgettable venue, to visit The Remarkables in spring, summer and autumn,” Porter group Chairman Alistair Porter said.

The Porter Group plans to have the gondola up and running by 2019.
