Whistler Blackcomb has just announced that they will be opening tomorrow, a full week ahead of their scheduled opening. 

The resort has received 78cm of snow in the past 7 days bring their base up to 77cm and their season total to 155cm (60in).

WHISTLER, BC November 18, 2015 – Whistler Blackcomb will kick off its 50th anniversary season one week ahead of schedule when Whistler Mountain opens to the public tomorrow. Five lifts will be running, providing guests with access to 1800 vertical feet of skiing and riding on opening day. Blackcomb Mountain will open as scheduled on November 26.

“We’ve had a good start to the season here so far with 155cm (60in) of snow since November 1 as measured at the Pig Alley Weather Station on Whistler Mountain,” says Doug MacFarlane, Director of Mountain Operations at Whistler Blackcomb. “Thanks to that natural snow and the combined efforts of our snowmaking team, guests can expect some fun early season conditions tomorrow.”

Keen skiers and riders can upload the Whistler Village Gondola or the Creekside Gondola beginning at 8:30am. Last upload is at 2pm and a mandatory download is in effect. Emerald Express, Big Red Express and Franz’s Chair lifts will be running, providing guests with access to nine groomed runs, including Green Acres, Jolly Green Giant, Ego Bowl, Upper Whiskey Jack, Pony Trail, Porcupine, Orange Peel, Upper Bear Cub, Upper Franz’s, as well as a small terrain park at the top of the Emerald Express chair. “With all the excitement of opening day, we want to remind guests early season conditions will apply, especially off piste,” says MacFarlane. “It is important to obey all mountain signage, ski and ride on open runs only and stay within the operational area marked by ‘Temporary Boundary’ signage.”

As a nod to its 50th anniversary, Whistler Blackcomb will be celebrating opening day in Creekside this year, Whistler Mountain’s original base area. Guests can expect live music from The McQuaid’s from 7:30am to 10am and a legendary après featuring Ruckus Duluxe at Dusty’s Bar and BBQ from 2:30pm to 5pm.

Additional Whistler Mountain dining locations set to open on November 19 include the Roundhouse Lodge, Dusty’s Backside (breakfast only), the Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC), Essentially Blackcomb Cappuccino Bar (EBCB) and Garbo’s Grill in the Carleton Lodge. Garbo’s will open outside at 6:30am, and EBCB at 7:30am inside, for November 19 only, then November 20 to December 17 8am-5pm, and December 18 onward

7am-5pm.

Beginning November 19, Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations in Whistler Village will be operating from 7am to 5pm daily and the Blackcomb Day Lodge and Creekside Guest Relations will be open from 8am to 5pm. The Blackcomb Day Lodge will close briefly from November 22 to November 25 when it will open again in preparation for Blackcomb Mountain opening on November 26.
