Today is the first day of the autumnal equinox, which is also referred to as Fall or Autumn. So in honor of this wonderful time of year that precedes ski season (obviously the best season), here are the 6 reasons to get stoked for Fall.

6) The Smell of Ski Wax

It’s time to pull out the tuning gear and rid skis of the rust that has accumulated over the summer months. So heat up the iron, sharpen the file, and grab a stick of wax because winter is coming.

5) Flannel Weather

There is absolutely nothing better than going to the back of the closet for the flannel that’s been laying dormant for the past 6 months. So grab that flannel, put on your Doc Martins, and play some Blind Melon because at the end of the day there’s just something about fall that feels like the 1990’s and/or childhood.

4) Hot Coffee

Ever since June, iced coffee has been the morning drink of choice. However, nothing beats a hot cup of Joe to start a brisk fall morning. Combine that with the above flannel and you are one step closer to snowy nights and bluebird powder mornings.

3) Football

Nothing says fall like football on TV every day of the week except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It doesn’t matter if it’s college or NFL, football is a great way to pass the time between now and ski season.

2) Colors

Whether it’s the changing leaves or the slanting light of autumn sunsets, colors in fall are intense. Especially, if you dwell in the upper-right part of the USA. On the other hand, the turning Aspen trees in the Rocky Mountains are not too shabby either.

1) Winter’s Wind

During fall, the cold blow of winter’s wind arrives as a surprise. It normally comes with light flurries and brings the alien smell of cold snow into our nostrils. It’s like winter is shaking hands with our noses and we couldn’t be happier for our upcoming reunion.
