Dubai

As of Tuesday, The United Arab Emirate Dubai announced that it will construct a new indoor ski facility, offering the longest indoor ski run in the world at 1.2km. To put that in prospective that’s the equivalent in length of 12 football fields.

The current record, which is held by the Dubai Indoor Ski Facility within the Mall of the Emirates, contains a 400 meter long run. That facility currently holds the Guinness world record for longest indoor ski slope… That is for now.

The cost of the new indoor ski facility?

$6.8 billion USD or 25 billion dirhams if you hail from the United Arab Emirates

The building is also slotted to hold 78,000 residents upon completion. The indoor ski area will run year-round through scorching summer days and skiers and boarders will be able to take a break from the oppressive heat and go skiing on man-made snow made a la carte for its guests.

The average high for Dubai in August is 106ºF

Project officials are planning to complete facility by the 2020 World Expo, which will be held in Dubai.
