This debate, which started when Bob Smith invented the “no fog goggle” in 1965, has been hotly discussed over thousands of beers ever since. So here are the pros and cons of Storm Days and Bluebird Days. Which would you rather have?
Storm Days
Pros
- Free refills are priceless
- The snow only gets deeper
- Tree skiing at its finest
- Solo soul shredding (Just turn up the reggae jams)
- Last run of the day can be better than the first
Cons
- You lose your friends… Immediately
- High alpine is typically off limits
- Avalanche danger can keep you off the steeper stuff
- Low visibility/ flat light can ruin the day
- Lifts can close due to wind/avalanche danger
Bluebird Powder Days
Pros
- Sun Dogs
- Access to steeper lines
- No lift closures
- 100% visibility
- Skiing with friends
- Aprés Rules
- Goggle Tans
Cons
- The first two hours are a rat race
- The best runs get tracked out quickly
- Lift lines are longer
- Gapers somehow find themselves in the middle of your line
- Sun can turn the pow into crust by 11am
