Broomfield, CO- On Tuesday morning, Vail Resorts announced in a press release that it has closed on a deal to acquire Perisher Ski Resort in New South Wales, Australia for approximately $136 million USD. The acquisition will allow for Epic Pass holders to ski the Australian resort as well as Australian “Freedom Pass” holders to ski and ride Vail operated resorts in the United States. However, holiday blackout dates still apply at select resorts for the Aussies.

The deal, which will be finalized at the end of the fiscal year, makes Vail Resorts the first U.S.-based resort group to own an international ski area in the Southern Hemisphere. CEO and Chairman of Vail Resorts, Rob Katz commented on the significance of the acquisition saying, “The acquisition of our first international mountain resort is a significant milestone for our Company. We’re thrilled to welcome the guests and employees of Perisher, Australia’s largest and most iconic resort, into the Vail Resorts family and deepen ties with one of our most important international markets.”
