After a delayed opening, The Remarkables Ski Area outside of Queenstown is set to open this Saturday after a huge dump prevented the completion of a newly constructed $20 million base facility. However, the base development is complete and resort officials are ready to open the ski area to the skiing and riding public this weekend.

The forecast is calling for snow on Friday and clear skies on Saturday making for an ideal opening. According to the resort’s facebook page, all runs will be open including the Burton Stash Park.

The base depth is currently at 80cm and 115cm at the upper elevations. Consistently cold temperatures have allowed snow to stick around and coverage to stay consistent across the ski area.

Also you have to love the opening day statement on the resorts website: “The Remarkables opening date has been confirmed for Saturday 27th June. Yay! Come and party with us!”
