After a banner season in the Northeast, New Hampshire ski resorts are currently reporting that this past ski season was the 4th best on record after 2.5 million skiers visited the New England state. Ultimately, skiers brought in big profits to the state’s economy during the winter months and ski resorts are happy to mark this year as one of the top 5 seasons ever.

Although reports of deep powder and cold temperatures spread over social media like wildfire, New Hampshire resorts think the numbers may have been better during the winter’s snowiest months but with wild weather and road conditions, some skiers found it hard to make the trip up. General Manager of Cranmore Mountain Resort, Ben Wilcox said,”Perhaps a bigger challenge was the amount of snow our key market areas received – in Boston and southern New Hampshire,” adding, “Too much snow in those areas actually made it tough for people to travel.”

However, a cold and precipitous February and March allowed for prime-time spring skiing conditions that lasted well through April and boosted skier visits. According to the Concord Monitor, Ski New Hampshire Executive Director Jessyca Keeler noted this as an important stimulus for the season saying, “I think people were excited to finally get out of their snowed-in homes and enjoy some spring skiing.”
