North Adams, Mass.- This past week, North Adams Police officials are strongly recommending that residents refrain from “chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet.”

Police added that such action “is strongly not advised.”

According to accounts, the PSA came after a local man attempted exactly that and was subsequently arrested following shenanigans that would force Jeff Foxworthy to come up with fresh material.

After the arrest, officials emphasized via the North Adams Police Facebook page, “we certainly don’t need anyone going all Davy Crockett chasing it [the bear] through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet,” adding “it’s just a bad idea and not going to end well.”

The name of the man has not been released.

Police continue to try and pinpoint a motive for such redneck—err, I mean reckless behavior.

“We are still trying to figure out what his end game was,” adding that if anyone has any idea on why he was drunkenly chasing a bear to please contact the North Adams Police Department.
