Slush-Cup

Finally! The goal is visible, the trophy tangible, and the only thing that stands in the way is an icy cold pond at the base of Sunshine Village.

Starting May 23, 2016, Ski Banff- Lake Louise- Sunshine will host the first ever Pond Skimming World Cup Championship. The Alberta resort, which currently serves as the setting for the annual pond skim event known as the “Slush Cup,” will now be included as the final stop of the 1st Annual Pond Skimming World Cup.

In conjunction with Ski Banff- Lake Louise- Sunshine, POWDER Magazine will co-host the Pond Skimming World Cup with hopes of pushing the sport into new realms of athleticism and style. Ashley Otte, the General Manager at POWDER Magazine recently commented on the new competitive platform by saying, “We’re excited to partner with Ski Banff- Lake Louise- Sunshine to be part of the 1s Annual Pond Skimming World Cup,” adding “Sunshine Village currently hosts one of the most iconic pond skimming competitions in North America and serves as the perfect location to host a world championship next season.”

Due to its high elevation and copious snowfall, Sunshine Village offers one of the longest seasons in Canada and subsequently serves as one of the best locations for pond skimming in North America. registration info is TBA.
