The season is winding down and for some April has been more epic than mid winter.  For others that epic dump came too late! Spring Bonus will be teasing the Sierra Saturday morning with 6-10 inches likely over 7,000 feet (Mammoth and Squawcould be be decent).  Peak snowfall will occur after midnight Friday through mid day Saturday. It’s your last chance to get on it! Those areas are still open! WOO HOO.

The Wasatch (Alta, Snowbird) and Tetons (Grand Targhee opens today-Sunday ) will grab light freshies Friday-Saturday (Tease before the cold front) (1-3 north, 3-4 south) with  high snow levels. This is your last chance for Targhee and Alta.  A cold front will approach the Wasatch by 2PM on Saturday and increase intensity through Sunday morning.  I am expecting an additional 5-10 inches through the period.  Last chair Saturday or 1st chair Sunday would be my picks in Little Cottonwood Canyon. The Tetons see snowfall increase on Sunday with wrap around moisture streaming north (2-4 additional). Who can complain it’s April 24th!

Colorado is under Southwest flow Saturday/Sunday with snow showers a sure bet West of the divide. Most snow may be limited to the 4 corners (above 9,000 feet), Uinta mountains and near Grand Junction (Rain).  Winds shift to the North, Northeast Sunday afternoon which will increase intensity over I-70 from Summit County east.  Sunday evening sees a good chance of front range snowfall (5-9).  My picks will be late Sunday or early Monday.  Areas closest to the Divide stand to see the best chances.

Even New England is getting teased with light snow in the forecast in the mountains from Saturday into early next week!  Spring may never sprung.
