Mt. Baker ski resort in Washington state has been closed since March 8th due to lack of snow. Most skiers and snowboarders thought that was it for the season, but the ski area has announced that they will be reopening this Thursday, April 16th! Baker just picked up 2-feet of new snow which is enough to get the trails covered and the chairs to start spinning. Below is the official word on the reopening.

MT. BAKER PRESS RELEASE:

Great news: we finally received enough snowfall to RE-OPEN THURSDAY APRIL 16th!

We will be in limited operation out of the Heather Meadows Base Area with at least two chairs operating and the handle tow. The forecast looks sunny for Thursday and great for the weekend with blue skies expected Saturday and Sunday.

We’ll assess conditions Friday afternoon for the possibility of adding Shuksan arm to the operations for the weekend.

We’re looking forward to being back on the snow on Thursday and hope to see you there!
