It has just been announced that Vail Resorts has acquired Australia’s Perisher Ski Resort for AU$176.6 million (about $US136 million). Perisher is the largest and most visited ski resort in Australia, with 3,000 skiable acres, 47 lifts, and 7 mountain peaks. The purchase marks Vail’s first overseas acquisition.

“The acquisition of our first international mountain resort is a significant milestone for our Company,” said Rob Katz, Chairman and CEO, via release. “This acquisition is part of Vail Resorts’ continued strategy to drive season pass sales and build loyalty with guests from around the world.”

This news comes less than a year after Vail Resorts acquired  Park City Mountain Resort for $182.5 million and just days after Vail Resorts’ got the go ahead to create America’s largest ski area by connecting Park City and The Canyon.
