EPIC ALERT HOISTED FOR 2-4 FEET OF SNOW IN THE 4 CORNERS- FRIDAY-PM -TUESDAY PM

From: Powderchasers.com

EPIC ALERT – 4 FEET COULD FALL BETWEEN FRIDAY AND WEDNESDAY
Snow is falling in the northern Rockies currently with 4-9 inches between Summit and Eagle Counties. Snow is also falling as far south as the San Juans (Lighter amounts). Heaviest amounts may be found over Vail Pass (7-9) or perhaps Eldora (9-12) On Thursday morning snow will be tapering with the exception of areas near Monarch where an additional 3-7 inches is likely for the central mountains (Friday AM could be decent there). Taos is also favored for Friday AM snowfall (4-8).

Wolf Creek just nabbed 40 inches and is about to nab another 2-4 feet! Next system comes in strong under SW flow over the 4 corners (UT, AZ, CO, NM). Focus will be between Taos and Crested Butte with what appears to be a shift further north towards even Aspen. Several waves of energy will cross the region with very little breaks. We see some breaks Sunday morning albeit brief while another strong system moves in Sunday night through Tuesday. The Wasatch will nab 3-7 inches this weekend  at the highest elevations especially BCC who does well with SW flow.

My target areas include Durango, Telluride (Telluride does not like SW flow but did stellar on the last storm so including in the red zone), Wolf Creek, Crested Butte, Taos, and the Elks nearAspen.  Models show decent moisture all the way up to Northern Colorado under SW flow.  That could kick some good amounts over I-70 late Saturday ad Sunday however wind direction is not optimal. Highest amounts might be between Crested Butte and Wolf Creek (Aspen wildcard). Lift issues, Avalanche holds likely especially Saturday and again Monday/Tuesday. Sunday offers a small break in the morning.   Sunday night-Tuesday could see higher amounts for the Flagstaff region in AZ as well as Taos where the low pressure is further south initially. That snow moves north over the 4 corners into the central mountains early next week (Additional heavy snowfall- Monday/Tuesday for many areas).

Mid week shows a NW flow setting up over the Wasatch and moving into central and northern Colorado on Wednesday.  Fast moving, but with good cold air and a good chance of some moderate accumulations.
