The Alps are having one of the worse season for avalanche deaths in recent memory. On Monday, an avalanche took the life of a skier who was descending the classic freeride descent of the Val Segnas in the off-piste terrain of the Disentis ski resort in Graubünden, Switzerland. The avalanche fatality was the 50th of season. Switzerland alone has had 18 avalanche deaths this winter.
