About Bruce:

Bruce Tremper grew up skiing in the mountains of western Montana and learned about mountains and avalanches from his father at a young age as well as from avalanche professionals. He began his training in the late 1970s and studied with some of the top avalanche scientists in the country. He has worked doing mountain rescues in both Grand Teton National Park and Glacier National Park, served as director of avalanche control at Big Sky Ski Area in Montana, and worked with avalanche forecasters at the Alaska Avalanche Center. For nearly three decades. He has served as director of the Utah Avalanche Center and was in charge of backcountry avalanche preparations for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He has been featured in dozens of national and international television documentaries and news programs on avalanches, including ones produced by National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, PBS, and the BBC. He is the author of the bestselling Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain.
