Forbes has put together a list of what they believe to be the World’s 5 Best Heli-Ski Trips.

“For ski enthusiasts, there is no better way to enjoy the sport than with untouched terrain and a helicopter to give you a lift there. It’s that simple: Heli-skiing offers better snow, challenging topography, and throws in the thrills and stunning beauty of repeated helicopter rides, something tourists in Hawaii, the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef pay handsomely for just for the scenic flights alone.

There are two kinds of heli-skiing operations. Lodge-based skiing is generally out of a small all-inclusive wilderness lodge, for at least three, but usually 5-7 days (a seven-day trip with meals and lodging can run into the $10,000-and-above range). This is most popular in North America, with Alaska and Western Canada widely considered to be the planet’s finest terrain. Last year, Russian billionaire and NBA owner Mikhail Prokhorov went straight from heli-skiing in British Columbia to New York to watch his Brooklyn Nets play.” – forbes.com
