The Wasatch was teased today with 3-4 inches of medium density over a good crust layer. I was able to find some isolated pockets of freshness at Snowbird this morning and even a few forced Faceshots. The next storm has looked progressively better with each model run and should bring deeper snow Monday to the Wasatch and to the 4 corners by Tuesday.
ROCKIES: UTAH/COLORADO/NEW MEXICO
Currently the best moisture will fall over the southern Wasatch Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Amounts should fall in the 9-12 inch range by Tuedsay morning. Better skiing might be found in the North Wasatch (Snowbasin, Powder or Beaver) and southern Idaho on Monday morning as the low tracks directly through Boise into northern Nevada and Utah. Snow will be falling Monday evening over all of North/Central Utah and taper by Tuesday morning ( Monday PM storm skiing and a freshening for Tuesday). Park City area mountains should see 4-8 inches by Tuesday. Northern Wasatch 6-9?
All the action moves into the 4 corners late Monday night and Tuesday. The heaviest snow should fall early Tuesday morning. Snow will linger into Wednesday especially over Taos. My top Picks will be Silverton, Durango Mountain, Wolf Creek, Taos and perhaps Telluride and Crested Butte. I would expect 12 -18 inches from Silverton to Wolf Creek (Highest elevations) and 6-12 from Taos through Telluride and Crested Butte. Best days to ski will be Tuesday (Snowing) and again Wednesday (Leftovers and some freshening). Confidence is very high for some deepness! Both Tuesday and Wednesday look good!
Next Weekend looks deep over the Cascades, Sierra, eventually moving into the Rockies the following Monday/Tuesday?
