POWDER ALERT- NEW ENGLAND- 4 CORNERS OF THE WEST

From: Powderchasers.com

Dry density POW fell over a wide area of Eastern New England in the past several days with nearly 3 feet just West of Boston.  The storm system was further East than originally forecasted so areas in Vermont had lower amounts when compared to NH and ME.  Another storm is on it’s heals for most of New England Thursday night-Saturday.   Lesson to be learned is that Nor Easters that track up the coast are far greater to have impacts from NE MA, southern NH and most of Maine.  Sunday River logged nearly 2 feet in 36 hours.

New England:   Next storm is packing a decent cold front that approaches from the Great Lakes late Thursday.  Snow will break out late Thursday in the northern NY and VT mountains and move south and East on Friday.  Expect a wide area of 4-8 inches by PM Friday. Jay Peak may see higher amounts.  NH and Maine will have best snowfall AM Friday to late PM.  Higher amounts are possible in NE Maine with models showing some enhancement late Friday.  Saturday might be a better day for the northern and central mountains of Maine (7-9).   A broad area of most mountains in New England will see 4-8 inches so take you pick on your favorite resorts. Snow densities will be slightly heavier than the last storm.

FOUR CORNERS- AZ/UT/CO/NM-  2 FEET PLUS?

Abundant moisture will be flowing into AZ from late Thursday through Saturday!  Significant snow will target areas of the White Mountains Northeast of Phoenix (18-24 inches).  Flagstaff will see 7500 foot snow levels and moderate snow (5-10) as well as southern UT.  Tucson area mountains will also see significant snowfall!

Friday Night

Colorado and New Mexico are under SW flow Friday turning SE by Saturday (Colder).  I would expect 4-7 inches at Wolf Creek primarily late Friday and early Saturday (Snow will be falling lightly during the day Friday).   Taos could do slightly better with ares near Angel Fire or East getting 6-9 inches.   Central New Mexico and south will likely see higher amounts.

Next week looks active with a fast moving colder storm likely for the Cascades as well as the northern Rockies late in the weekend into Monday/Tuesday (Tetons)?
