Winter storm “Damon” is heading for the east coast bringing with it rain, snow and high winds. The storm will start to impact the Northeast on Tuesday as low pressure heads north into New England. At the same time, a cold front will sweep eastward through the Great Lakes into the interior Northeast.

A challenge with this system, as with most Northeast coastal storms, is how much cold air will be available.

How Much Snow?

Snowfall in the major coastal cities from Washington to Boston are expected to be minimal, if any snow.

The heaviest snowfall potential will line up over the interior Northeast from northern Pennsylvania to the Catskills, Adirondacks, Green and White Mountains, and northern Maine, with 6 inches or more likely in these areas. Some of the higher elevations could see as much as 2 feet of total snow through Thursday.
