Northern ski areas picked up significant snowfall in the past week.  Brundage mountain in Idaho nabbed 33 inches in 7 days.  The Tetons as well as the Cottonwoods saw nearly 2 feet in 48 hours.  The PNW finally took headlines with upper mountain areas skiing well. Most resorts picked up between 16 and 24 inches (Crystal).  Game changing temperatures and great quality snow.

The week ahead will bring another large system and arctic air that will see some light snow in Las Vegas as early as Tuesday night.  That system brings heavy snow to northern Arizona and southern Utah Wednesday to Thursday (12-20). Moisture will stream into New Mexico and southern Colorado on Thursday morning.  Amounts could be decent over Taos by early Friday.  The Colorado mountains are on the northern edge with moderate snow likely for Durango and points east towards Wolf Creek (lower amounts).  My early guess is a foot or more for NM and 5-10 for the southern San Juans.     Low pressure is likely towards the weekend for interior BC, colder temps and perhaps significant snowfall.  Most action stays north of the lower 48 until perhaps mid next week.   Enjoy the powder!
