POWDER ALERT-CASCADES-BC-ROCKIES, NORTH SIERRA

From: Powderchasers.com

CASCADES:     Light snow continues today from Oregon through Washington (2-4).  Brief break early Friday migrates to moderate snow late Friday afternoon turning heavy through Saturday morning (OR, WA, BC-Whistler). Heavy snow will migrate from North to south impacting the Shasta range in Northern CA early Saturday. Snow will be falling heavily in the interior of Washington (Spokane Mountains) and southern BC early Saturday morning.   Another strong cold front moves in Sunday with heavy snowfall aimed at the entire Cascade Range through Monday morning (Another 12-15 inches).  EPIC ALERTS LIKELY!POW FACTOR:   Light snow is teasing the Cascades this morning.  Light to moderate snow will tease the Sierra tonight with some spots seeing up to 4-6 inches at the highest elevations through Friday.  The big picture will begin from Friday night through early next week as 2 strong cold fronts bring the Cascades it’s first “Epic” dump all season. We are forecasting  18-28 inches by late Monday.  That snow moves into Idaho, Northern California, Wyoming, Utah, southern Montana and Colorado this weekend.

SIERRA:  Teaser brings 2-5 inches to most areas late today. Moderate snow likely in the North Sierra late Friday/Saturday.  Decent moisture fetch depicted on models.  Cold front stays further north limiting amounts.  My best guess is 4-7 inches in the north, 2-5 further south, and 7-10 into the Shasta Range. Strong winds will be a factor on Saturday (70 Knot gusts).

WY/ID/UT:  The action begins late Friday night over central Idaho extending into the Tetons by Saturday morning. Heavy snow likely over Sun Valley, Stanley, Boise Mountains (8-16) Saturday. The Tetons will see moderate snow early Saturday turning heavy by Noon Saturday (6-11) That snowfall extends into Utah late Saturday through Sunday (7-12 inches.  The Northern Wasatch might fare better early Saturday (Snowbasin, Powder, Beaver). It should be snowing heavily over Park City, Canyons, Deer Valley slowly edging towards the Cottonwoods by mid afternoon Saturday.   Early Sunday will be deep in spots (7-11). (Alta, Snowbird, Park City, Brighton, Solitude will all be open).  A second cold front drops in early Monday bringing additional snow primarily northern Wasatch, Idaho, and the Tetons (7-11). Total snow in the Wasatch by Monday evening will be in the 2-3 feet range! That would hoist an Epic Alert!

COLORADO:  Light action begins in northern Colorado under SW flow early Saturday (Crested Butte/Aspen could be favored).  Winds shift to the West, Northwest late Saturday enhancing snowfall over I-70 late in the afternoon.  Resorts favored by NW flow will see continuous light to moderate snowfall Saturday PM through Sunday PM (8-14).  Snowmass, Vail Pass, and areas of Western Summit County could have a moderately deep Sunday!  Snow will continue late Sunday/Monday (Another fresh day). Brief break Monday brings a final round of snowfall Statewide Monday night into Tuesday. Total snowfall amounts through Tuesday will be in the 14-25 inch range (North favored).
