Killington Resort, Vermont

Lifts Open: 2
Base Depth: 16″

Note: Big thanks to everyone (including Mother Nature) who helped make this an opening week to remember. But let’s not get too choked up about the past, the longest season in the East is stretching out before us.

Week number 2 begins with the snowmakers taking a short break as the weather briefly warms, but it’s a much deserved chance to regroup for their next objective: The full frontal assault of Snowdon Mountain. No such luck for the groomers though, as they will be out laying down fresh grooves on all open trails for Monday, including the fine early season park on Reason. The K-1 Express Gondola and the North Ridge Triple will spin from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with downloading available until 4:00 p.m. Please note that open terrain is for advanced skiers and riders only. No easier terrain is available at this time.

We are currently using the Peak Walkway to get from the open terrain in the North Ridge area back to the K-1 Gondola for downloading. Check out all the early season details before heading out. – Killington.com

Sunday River, Maine

Lifts Open: 1
Base Depth: 12″

Note: We love the smell of new terrain in the morning! After the Locke Mountain Triple stopped spinning yesterday, groomers got out there and began working their magic. Cats are still on the hill right now, finishing up partial grooms on T2, Jim’s Whim, Upper, Lower, and regular ol’ Sunday Punch. Those five trails will open at 9:00AM this morning. On top of that, we’ve got an entire park up there – five rails. We’re expecting cooler temps later this week, along with the potential for some snow, so we’ll be taking full advantage of that and opening more terrain as soon as possible.

While we are officially open T2B, you still have the option of downloading from the Locke Mountain Triple’s midstation. Make sure to check back here for the latest updates and remember that all of our open terrain is partially groomed and recommended for advanced skiers and riders only. – sundayriver.com

Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine

Lifts Open: 1
Base Depth: 12″

Note: We’re going to go ahead and say it – Opening Day of our 2014-15 season was a huge success. Thanks to a sunny morning, calm winds, comfortable temperatures, and a huge crowd of smiling Sugarloafers, today will go down as a day to remember. Our snowmakers and groomers did a tremendous job getting the upper part of the mountain ready for us, and the snow on Kings Landing turned out to be quite a treat after being off of skis for several months. People enjoyed both the riding and the company of others, and we’re already looking forward to a whole season of the good vibes experienced today.

As a reminder, we will be closed Monday through Friday this week to allow snowmaking and grooming to build up existing surfaces and expand operations to trails like Candyside, Hayburner, and the Stomping Grounds. Forecasts are calling for milder temperatures over the next few days before dropping like a stone towards the middle of the week. Snowmaking is scheduled to resume by Thursday and conditions permitting we plan to open again on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th. – sugarloaf.com

*Please let us know if we missed a open ski area so that we can add it to the list.
