Mark Donnelly was performing O Canada at the Penticton Vees junior A hockey team’s home opener Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

He gracefully circled the ice on skates — not much of a stretch, really, as he plays hockey recreationally — while belting out the anthem in his booming tenor.

That is, until he failed to notice a ceremonial carpet near centre ice, tripped and fell forward onto his hands and knees, and slid along the crumpled-up carpet.

But here’s the thing: the guy never missed a beat, singing away even as he awkwardly tried to regain his footing.
