More big news out of Utah where Deer Valley has announce that it has bought neighboring ski resort Solitude.

For the coming season Solitude will be run by its existing management and it will be business as usual.

Deer Valley says it will take over day-to-day operations on May 1st 2015.

“Solitude is an incredible resort and provided a huge opportunity for us to expand our offerings right here in Utah,” said Bob Wheaton, president and general manager of Deer Valley Resort. “Solitude is in a unique position with their widely varied terrain that attracts both local and destination skiers. We are ecstatic to be able to add the resort to the Deer Valley family.”

The landscape of Utah’s ski resorts has change greatly over the past few months with Vail Resorts, that runs the Canyons in Utah, buying the neighboring ski resort of Park City for $182.5m after a long and bitter legal battle (Vail Resorts Buys Park City For $182.5 million in cash).
