MID MAY EPIC ALERT- 18-24 INCHES LIKELY OVER COLORADO

Powderchasers.com

We have never issued a MId May EPIC ALERT.    Forget about Spring for the next several days and think back to the days of February when it was snowing from Denver up I-70 to Vail Pass.  Snowbird logged nearly a foot of Powder yesterday and more snow is just moving into the Wasatch this morning (2-4).  Snow in the Wasatch will decrease tonight and pick up again late Saturday (Light to moderate amounts thorugh Sunday- 3-6).  Not confident on any single large event due to North, and NE wind direction (Not great for the Wasatch).

EPIC ALERT!

The real story is aimed at Colorado where significant snowfall is a guarentee from late Saturday night through Monday.  Moderate snow will be falling Saturday night near the Utah border to Grand Junction under SW flow (Northern San Juan’s).  Winds shift after midnight as snow slowly edges down to I-70 early Sunday.  By Daybreak Sunday moderate snow will be impacting Berthod PassLoveland Pass, and A-Basin (Only ski area open in Colorado).   Heavy snow will be falling by mid morning through midnight Sunday.   North and NE winds  Sunday/Monday will crank out over 24 inches near Estes Park, and the Continental Divide.  Deepest Powder will be found mid Sunday through Monday morning. Areas West of the Divide will do best late Saturday night through Sunday aternoon (Lower amounts).    The Denver Metro area will see rain early Sunday changing to snow late in the day.  Moderate snow will be falling accross the low elevations of Denver/Boulder thorugh Sunday night.  I-70 Road closures are likely by late Sunday afternoon!  We have started a campaign to “Keep I-70 Open” on Facebook (Please like that page).  Your feedback will be helpful.
