According to multiple sources, Bode Miller will most likely hang up his race skis at the end of next season. Bode will go out as an Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, a two-time overall World Cup champion in 2005 and 2008, and the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time. He is also considered one of the greatest World Cup racers of all time with 33 victories – one of five men to win World Cup events in all five disciplines.
“I think I have more to do in the sport,” he told The Associated Press at the World Cup Finals in Switzerland in March. “I definitely am still competitive. If I can keep my body healthy then I think the plan is to race next year.”
Miller, 36, became the oldest Olympic Alpine skiing medalist with his shared bronze in the super-G in Sochi after missing all of 2012-13 following knee surgery. But the season as a whole left him hungry. He’s the most decorated U.S. Olympic skier with six medals over five Winter Games.
