BURKE-MEMORY

Ontario, Canada will dedicate a highway in memory of the Canadian freestyle skier, Sarah Burke.

Premier Kathleen Wynne is announced today that Highway 93, a 24-kilometre stretch through Simcoe County, will be renamed the Sarah Burke Memorial Highway.

Burke, who tragically died before she could compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics, was born and raised in the area.

“The Sarah Burke Memorial Highway will provide a lasting reminder of her accomplishments,” Premier Kathleen Wynne said in a statement. “It will remind girls everywhere of the amazing possibilities that are open to them in our beautiful province.”
